Copper tree of life
Home of the 10 foot copper tree.
Made from 100% copper this tree has incorporated mostly acquired materials and measures 10.5 feet tall. It includes approx.100 feet of tubing 1000's of feet of wire and more than 120 feet of mesh. It was completely made by hand taking more than 7 months, 100's of hours and weighs in at about 50 lbs. There are more than 300 leaves each made by hand.
Barb Curle is a multimedia artist who studied commercial art extensively before becoming a metal smith major at ACAD. She took up acrylic painting in the 90's and opened the Mosaic Art & Gift Gallery with her glass artist and husband Paul in 2005. In 2016 she got back to her roots doing metal work on a bigger scale. Trees are a common theme in her work for their diversity and strength, their ties to family and their power to provide life for all living beings.
